We seem to be fixated on the year 1983. First came Stranger Things and now, the new film by Luca Guadagnino, Call Me By Your Name.

A love story between Elio and Oliver, Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet, respectively, it is an Italian summer romance featuring the power brands of the decade.

From Polo Ralph Lauren shirts, clothing the arrogant and preppy Oliver, to the striped Lacoste polos on the young and loving Elio. 

Mix it with a bit of 80s Italian disco and copious amounts of drawstring swim shorts and you have your next warm weather wardrobe sorted. A future classic, it’s a peach of a film!

Put yellow and red together and you don't get orange, but Baywatch. This colour combo always says ‘Lifeguard’, even though on the new film, strangely, they’re using red and blue. Must be a copyright issue!

Anyway, make like Zac and Dwayne down on the beach and go for T-shirts and swim shorts in primary red and yellow. Take the hassle out of Hasselhoff and keep it simple. A strong yellow T-Shirt has always been a difficult one to blend into the wardrobe, but add a red swim short and you get a perfect combo.

Have you ever been to the beach and been too scared for a pair of trunks and instead opted for a pair of boring swim shorts? Or, are you one of those boys worried about tan lines?

Well, there’s something new in the world of men’s swimwear thanks to the Swedish brand, Panos Emporio. The new ‘Meander’ swim short is designed by Swedish beach and swimwear designer, Panos Papadopoulos, who has, for the last 30 years, developed new swimwear trends.

Meander’s design was created out of a real problem that Panos had himself. He didn’t want tan lines without changing shorts.

How does it work? Guys can open up the sides of Meander with hidden zippers. The fabric rolls up, smoothly fastens with push bottoms in the front and the back and , voila, becomes an elegant shorter brief.

By opening up the zippers, you also get full mobility for beach and water sports. With Meander, men no longer need to choose and get the best of both worlds: a sleek design and a tan without stripes on the thighs. 

If you're feeling shy, roll down, and I bet by the end of the holiday it will be trunks all the way!

Below - Feeling overdressed?! Not a problem

Despite being of the ginger persuasion TheChicGeek loves the beach. Armed with his factor 40 and bucket hat, TheChicGeek's beach style is a clash of seaside prints in bold reds and blues.

Spotting a beached dolphin, TheChicGeek does his bit and puts him back into the surf and as a true GEEK, sandals always come with socks.
