OOTD Neil Barrett bomber jacketWhen TheChicGeek met Neil Barrett - see here - he was just about to unveil this collection in Milan. He told TheChicGeek he was inspired by his childhood and the 1970s and the collection was a mix of his classic smart sportswear and 70s inspired chevrons and colours.

Neil really knows how to make clothes that flatter. Here we have a classic bomber given movement with the herringbone detail on the arms, a super luxurious knit polo with epaulettes and subtle jacquard trousers with a camo-type design. The look is finished off with smart, white gum sole shoes.

OOTD The Chic Geek Loewe JW Anderson MenswearPronounced ‘Loh-wev-eh’, Loewe, is Spain's premier luxury label. Designed by Northern Irish designer, JW Anderson, it is producing some of the most directional and top quality menswear ATM.

This season was inspired by the beach: shells, rope and boats decorated tops, jackets and accessories. Gold leaf on denim brings to mind the warmth of a summer sunset. This shell tote is stunning and a real standout piece. Who said life was a beach?!

the chic geek blogger olympic gamesIt's over :( The Rio 2016 Olympic Games is finished and it's time to hit the showers. Post-gymwear requires a simple yet stylish approach to sportswear. Comfort is key and rehydration a priority as you venture home and flop into bed.

Put those aching muscles into loose tracksuit bottoms with sandals and sports socks and go home to eat your own body weight of food. You deserve it!

the chic geek ottd menswear birminghamTheChicGeek headed north to experience the renaissance of our great industrial centres. The first stop was the heart of the UK, Birmingham.

Arriving at the new and shiny - quite literally - Birmingham New Street station, TheChicGeek headed to the comfort of the new AC Hotel at the Mailbox development adjacent to the canal.

With more canals than Venice, Birmingham’s Mailbox is a mix of industrial heritage and modern architecture with a recently refurbished Harvey Nichols, shops and restaurants.

TheChicGeek went sporty in his OOTD with a fitted biker jacket in soft suede and new, relaxed dark denim jeans with an athleisure drawstring. Finished off with bright white plimsolls, Birmingham was the perfect eclectic backdrop for TheChicGeek.

This seems to be the theme coming out of Milan fashion week where the Italians have taken the bull by the horns and produced some of the best menswear we’ve seen from them in a long time. Hot List - Ferragamo 1898 Sport Watch

Ferragamo men's green 1898 watchWith forest green being one of the hottest colours of this autumn/winter, this timepiece caught TheChicGeek's attention. Italian shoe specialists, Ferragamo, first introduced watches in 2007, and this particular one, part of the Ferragamo 1898 Collection,  commemorates the year Salvatore Ferragamo, the founder, was born.

Left - Ferragamo 1898 Sports - £940

This handsome 43 mm 1898 Diver features a colourful aluminum unidirectional rotating bezel inscribed with a 60-minute scale. The ruggedly masculine three-hand configuration is powered by a precision Swiss made quartz movement and is water resistant to 660 feet. The easy-to-read dial includes a convenient date window at 3 o’clock and the Ferragamo logo at 12 o’clock.

TheChicGeek says, "The NATO strap adds an element of sports and a contemporary touch to this bold yet masculine style and will certainly leave admirers as green as the watch."

TheChicGeek’s Milan SS16 Scrapbook

Gucci menswear chinoiserie ss16 geekdolce & gabbana menswear chinoiserie chinese ss16chinese menswear dolce & gabbanaMilan is home to many of fashion's megabrands. This powerhouse is full of the commercial sex appeal we've come to expect from the home of Italian fashion. TheChicGeek casts his expert eye over the details and trends worth coveting:

Chinoiserie

It could have something to do with the recent MET exhibition in New York, or simply the cycle of Chinese influence is coming around for another season, but look out for Mao collars and delicate Chinese decoration in relaxed, voluminous shapes.
