Put yellow and red together and you don't get orange, but Baywatch. This colour combo always says ‘Lifeguard’, even though on the new film, strangely, they’re using red and blue. Must be a copyright issue!
Anyway, make like Zac and Dwayne down on the beach and go for T-shirts and swim shorts in primary red and yellow. Take the hassle out of Hasselhoff and keep it simple. A strong yellow T-Shirt has always been a difficult one to blend into the wardrobe, but add a red swim short and you get a perfect combo.

Even if the film’s a load of rubbish, which it probably will be, you can’t get away from the attraction of the sea and surf. Forever and always, I'm always here!

Holidays are a time for fun and this should be reflected in your wardrobe. It's a time to let go, relax and have a sense of humour while staying on the right side of cool.
Whistles has this towelling palm print shirt and matching swim shorts combo which makes it more than just another Hawaiian style shirt. This means you've thought about it, if only they did a matching bucket hat. Now, that would be a complete outfit! Team with sunglasses, towelling sports socks and sandals or sliders.

Have you ever been to the beach and been too scared for a pair of trunks and instead opted for a pair of boring swim shorts? Or, are you one of those boys worried about tan lines?
Left - The unzipped 'Meander' short
Well, there’s something new in the world of men’s swimwear thanks to the Swedish brand, Panos Emporio. The new ‘Meander’ swim short is designed by Swedish beach and swimwear designer, Panos Papadopoulos, who has, for the last 30 years, developed new swimwear trends.
Meander’s design was created out of a real problem that Panos had himself. He didn’t want tan lines without changing shorts.
How does it work? Guys can open up the sides of Meander with hidden zippers. The fabric rolls up, smoothly fastens with push bottoms in the front and the back and , voila, becomes an elegant shorter brief.
Right - Here's the science bit
By opening up the zippers, you also get full mobility for beach and water sports. With Meander, men no longer need to choose and get the best of both worlds: a sleek design and a tan without stripes on the thighs.
If you're feeling shy, roll down, and I bet by the end of the holiday it will be trunks all the way!
Below - Feeling overdressed?! Not a problem
Are you BeachGEEK body ready?! Well, no matter the answer - to be honest, I'm not quite sure what beach body ready means anyway!! - monochrome hides a multitude of sins while being as timeless as a 99 ice cream.
Strip the colour out of your beachwear and look for black and white stripes in various thicknesses. Team with dark sunglasses and matching sandals and you're good to go.
Just don't forget to apply lots of sun protection so you don't get a 'newspaper tan' - black, white and red all over!

As a perfect example of this, these British seaweed print swim shorts, inspired by flora from the British Isles, will look more at home in the sunny Mediterranean than native on a windswept Whitstable. More work of art than standard holiday poolwear.
Move over Mary Portas! Le Slip Francais is all about home manufacturing: French manufacturing. Founder, Guillaume Gibault, made a bet, in early 2011, with a friend, in a Parisian Café, where he wagered that with an inspiring story and traditional French craftsmanship anything and everything was possible.
Left - Oo La La - Le Slip Francais' Logo
The briefs he imagined, on that fine evening, first saw the light of day a few months later in a small workshop on the banks of the river Drome in the Dordogne which had been producing underwear for the last 60 years. In September 2011, the first consignment of 600 pairs was delivered to Paris in the trunk of a rental car and Le Slip Francais was launched.
Never had the 2,000 villagers of the sleepy commune of Saint-Antoine-Cumond dreamed that their home would soon become the French underwear capital.
Right - Le Slip Francais' colour palette for its underwear and swimwear in based on the three colours of the French flag - Red, White & Blue - Trunks - £25
Three years later with the expansion that followed, partnerships with established brands, two pop-up stores, one store in Paris, Le Slip français celebrated the sale of its 60,000th garment – one of over 120 different lines, created in one of 15 workshops across France.
But, Le Slip Français is much more than a brand of underwear. This dynamic brand fuses French manufacturing tradition and expertise with a modern twist and a sense of humour. The internet has offered them a new way to fund, create, communicate and interact with their brand community worldwide. In achieving this vision they're breathing new life into what had been a declining industry, by creating a brand that is relevant for a new generation of discerning consumers who value quality garments with a genuine story and honest authentic provenance.
Left - For Spring-Summer 2015, another French brand, Aigle, has collaborated with Le Slip Français. Drawing inspiration from classic French style 'Breton stripes' the capsule collection has six statement pieces including swim shorts, trunks, espadrilles, T-shirt, a tote bag and iconic Aigle wellington boots. The colour palette of the collection is based on the French tricolour and the whole collection is made in France.
Following the success of David Gandy's Autograph underwear for M&S, they are, now, launching an eight piece swimwear collection, designed and modelled by the man himself.
Left & Below - David Gandy for Autograph Swimwear - £25
Available at the beginning of June 2015, he says: “The underwear collection has been really well received so launching swimwear this summer seemed like the next natural step."
Gandy has worked closely with the M&S swimwear experts to develop a collection of eight swim shorts in navy, light blue, cobalt blue, marine, orange, red, black and hounds-tooth, all in a new, exclusive slim fit shape, with a lower rise and shorter short.
This is the first time M&S has launched a swimwear range by waist size offering sizes from 28” to 40’’ for a more accurate fit, usually only found on tailoring. The swim shorts are made with innovative Quick Dry technology to speed drying time, as well as being sold with a drawstring water resistant bag.
TheChicGeek says "The thing I'm most surprised about is the price. Marks & Spencer could have easily charged £40 for these when you consider that Orlebar Brown, the brand which pioneered this tailored swim short style, now has styles pushing north of £200. £25 is a really good price and these will disappear fast. If you're a small size, order fast.
When I spoke to David Gandy, during the last LCM, I asked him how his partnership with M&S was going. I told him he should do a sportswear range with Marks & Spencer as it would be believable from him and this is where fashion is right now and will continue to be for a while. Looking at the popularity of these, I don't think we'll have to wait long for this."
