Review Clinique For Men Super Energizer Anti-Fatigue Hydrating Concentrate SPF 40 men's grooming expertA new daily hydrator that instantly combats fatigue, visibly corrects first signs of ageing, and defends against modern aggressors for a more youthful appearance. Reveals a more youthful appearance with anti-oxidants and a potent “pollution shield” to help defend against pollution/PM2.5, dust, and pollen that can also lead to signs of aging.

Multi-layered defense technology – including sunscreens, repair enzymes, and a unique "Superfood Blend” – fight modern aggressors like UVA/UVB, Infrared (IR), Blue Light, pollution, pollen and dust that can tire skin and accelerate aging.

TheChicGeek says, “This is the direction men's grooming is going in: higher and higher lightweight SPF protection. I was really hoping this would be in a gel format, like - Tried & Tested Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly - but it’s a standard white moisturiser.

It’s slightly tacky on the skin, but feels really light and goes on easily. This is a really high SPF for a regular moisturiser and, finally, men are realising that sun protection should be taken seriously and worn all year around. I'd happily use this everyday. It’s slightly toppy in the pricing for 48ml - what a strange amount? - but if you do want something cheaper, Clinique For Men do a daily moisturiser with SPF 21.”

Review Clinique For Men Super Energizer Anti-Fatigue Exfoliating Powder Cleanser men's grooming expertThis new ‘Super Energizer Anti-Fatigue Exfoliating Powder Cleanser’ is a versatile, water-activated powder cleanser that gives fatigued skin the boost it needs. Renergises and invigorates even the most tired and the dullest of skins. Enriched with salicylic acid and ascorbic acid, this powder cleanser transforms into:

a rich, foamy, face wash when mixed with a liberal amount of water, OR a deep-cleansing exfoliating paste when mixed with a couple of drops of water, paving the way for a closer shave. Use 2-3 times per week.

TheChicGeek says, “I reviewed Clinique’s 'Fresh Pressed 7-Day System with Pure Vitamin C' a while back - read more here - and thought this was something similar, just repackaged for men. It’s similar in the way it is dry and you add water, but there is no vitamin C in this. The packaging and bottle are anonymous of ingredients and it’s quite hard to judge how much powder you’re going to need.

It doesn’t foam up as well as you want and the powder quickly clogs. I tried it in London’s hard water and also on holiday in Rhodes with little noticeable difference.

One positive is, with it being dry, it doesn’t count in your travel toiletries when passing through security."

Clinique Maximum Hydrator Gel The Chic Geek GroomingThe full title for this is Clinique For Men Maximum Hydrator Activated Water-Gel Concentrate and is said to “deliver a turbo-boost of cool supercharged hydration to increase skin’s moisture reservoir with an immediate 179% moisture boost that is retained for 24 hours at 65%”.

The breakthrough weightless formula transforms from a gel to a liquid, releasing a cooling burst of oil-free hydration that’s instantly absorbed by your skin leaving zero tacky residue. Skin is left feeling soothed, comfortable, and fresh.

Formulated with dual-action Liquid SphereTM Technology, new Clinique for Men Maximum Hydrator Activated Water-Gel Concentrate, helps to break the cycle of dryness and oxidative damage, releasing vital antioxidant protection.

The Liquid SphereTM Technology encapsulates spheres of Vitamin E and Vitamin C that burst instantly on application to release potent antioxidants that protect against oxidative damage and fend off free radicals. ‘Moisture Holding Matrix Polymer Technology’ uses moisture-magnet polymers to seal and lock in hydration, helping to boost skin’s moisture retention

For best results, apply AM or PM to face and neck on clean skin. Also ideal to use after shaving to soothe and calm irritated skin. Safe for eye area.

TheChicGeek says, “Thirsty?! Well, your skin definitely is. This does look the part and you can see the vitamin spheres inside the gel. Unfortunately, they don’t pop on the skin, which gives it that oh-so-satisfying sensation. Can you remember Mr Radiant from Givenchy?

This is very light and you don’t need much of it. It goes on easily and is non tacky. It just doesn’t hydrate as much as you hope. I wanted something dewy and it just seems to disappear. Clinique already has a Maximum Hydrator, in white cream form, in their range and I don’t think this is really offering anything new. You could use this as a moisturiser and then apply an SPF sun product on top".

How to Protect Your Skin from the Sun

How to Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Clinique's Executive Director for Research and Development, Dr Tom Mammone

How to Protect Your Skin from the Sun

"Start simply. Clean off the dirt from your skin with a great soap.
Exfoliate, you'd never a paint a wall without prepping it first.
Enhance - put something on your skin that is protective.
Always use something that has a UV protector. Use a product that has a broad range with UVA -these are the penetrating rays that cause more sagging and deeper skin damage- and UVB -these give you wrinkles - protection. Both cause cancer but UVB rays cause damage to the skin's DNA.

When it comes to sun tan lotions and creams it isn't so much about the factor number -though choose one according to your skin type - as it is about application. Always use in quantity and evenness.
Protect all the spots: tops of feet, ears etc.
Reapply ever two hours regardless of factor number as some can breakdown after two hours and it is not worth taking the risk. Sweat can also dissolve the cream on the skin.
Some products are specifically formulated to protect the face because it is so exposed and to help protect regions that are thin like around the eyes.
Facial creams will have a lot more antioxidants and super defence so it worth buying a cream just for your face.
Reduce processed sugars in your diet. A sugary diet and sun damage combined can seriously damage the skin."

Clinique for Men was launched in 1976 and continues to be the No. 1 prestige grooming range in the UK. All products are allergy tested, 100% fragrance free, non-acnegenic and clinically formulated.

Clinique for Men Sonic System Deep Cleansing BrushThe oval-shaped brush head of Clinique’s Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush was specifically designed to deliver targeted cleansing in the hard-to-reach, contoured areas of men’s faces including around the nose, hairline and chin. Charcoal-infused bristles draw out debris to help keep skin clear.

Left - Clinique For Men Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush - £79.00, Replacement Brush Head - £15.00, Clinique For Men Charcoal Face Wash - £18

To complement the sonic cleanser, the Clinique for Men Charcoal Face Wash is fueled by the purifying powers of bamboo charcoal removing dirt, debris and surface oil for tired, stressed and congested skin. Ingredients such glycerin attracts water to the skin to restore suppleness while also forming a barrier against future moisture loss and caffeine, an anti-irritant, helps to nourish and soothe skin irritation from razor burns and nicks.

The Chic Geek review Clinique For Men Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush TheChicGeek says “Men love gadgets and this is what Clinique is banking on, here. I’ve tried the Clarisonic face cleanser before – here - the first of this type of face cleaner when it launched 5 years ago, and this is much gentler. Sonic cleansing is a gentle way of giving your skin a thorough clean.

Right - TheChicGeek trying out the new Clinique For Men Sonic System Deep Cleansing Brush. So delicate no ginger paint was removed!

While they already have a female version of this, Clinique say they simply haven’t coloured it grey and repackaged for us guys. It’s the charcoal that makes all the difference, don’t you know!

It’s a very light and simple design. You do have to believe though. Are you a believer? *raises hands into the air* It’s so soft and gentle you have to imagine it working, rather than feel it. This isn’t a power tool that you can use on the woodwork after, even though we’d probably like that! It’s a delicate sonic cleanser which should be used for 30 seconds at a time. You will have to fight the urge to really rub your face with it.

Those 30 seconds go fast and you have to move it around your face quickly. You put your chosen face wash onto the brush - you don’t have to use the new charcoal face wash, which doesn’t come with it - then turn it on. Expect a box set with both products come Christmas time. (My only beef with these dark face washes or clay scrubs is that they tend to stain the skin dark and give you somewhat of a grey John Major type appearance).

Being realistic I’m only going to use the sonic brush once a day, in the morning, while in the shower. Initial impressions, I didn’t see any noticeable differences or feelings of cleanliness from my regular routine. The 30 seconds feels too short a time to get around the whole of your face and neck.

My feedback – The stand, which is good, should be detachable from the charging cable and should come with an optional ‘sucker’ so you can stick it on the wall in the shower. This will stop it from lying down and allow it to dry out between uses. It lasts 180 minutes, which means you’ll hardly ever have to charge it, which is one of the bugbears of bathroom gadgets.

Final thought - Using this is like the difference between a manual and an electric toothbrush, one will clean you better, but is more expensive and it’s, ultimately, a personal preference. I would say as our skin ages and becomes thinner, something delicate, like this, would be recommended rather than a coarse scrub to exfoliate and clean the skin.”
