Duvet Days
Get down with quilting this season. The trend is split into two; on the one hand you have the traditional puffer and quilted coats, these are truly the only thing to keep you warm when the temperature starts to drop. The best are from Moncler, Woolrich, Canada Goose and Ralph Lauren. Go for a Parka style with fur hood.
The other side is far more subtle. This is micro quilting, quilting as decoration rather than for it practicalities. Christopher Bailey lined herringbone Tweed jackets in black quilting in his Prorsum collection, Neil Barrett filled his coats with quilting on the inside and made quilted scarves and Antonio Marras layered his at Kenzo. Thom Browne’s Gamme Bleu collection for Moncler was one of the best collections of the season and everything here was quilted. For research, we’ve tested the whole collection and the best looking jackets are the double breasted with gold buttons from Joseph and the white quilted shirt from Harvey Nichols London. It’s expensive but the fabrication is so good.
New designers such as H by Harris showed bags and accessories - click here - and Martine Rose’s padded circle shirts. Stick to dark colours and avoid some of those overly shiny jackets. Here are some of our favourites quilty pleasures of the season.
