Black Forest

TheChicGeek is having something of an Oktoberfest. The hills are alive with the sound of Germanic folk influences this seaon. Think Christopher Plummer as Captain von Trapp in ‘The Sound of Music’ - high buttoned tailoring with lots of pockets, buttons and contrast detailing.
The A/W 09 Topman Design collection set the trend with an alpine adventure of Germanic proportions. Boys in skinny Tweed tailoring armed with rucksacks and caps gave the collection a 1930’s purity of pared down clothing.
The alpine look is so good for this time of year as it encapsulates all the best fabrics and colours for the winter months without resorting to harsh black. The style is an historical hike, a feather in your cap on an adventure of innocence sustained by fresh air and clean living. Don't be too literal with the look, keep it to jackets and accessories in wool/ Felt in greens, browns and greys.
Paul Smith, Japanese label Nonnative and Nigel Cabourn have all nodded to german folk dress in their collections. Brown leather rucksacks and mountaineer caps with feathers finish the look.

The Gardener's Jacket
In order to mark the arrival of Oliver Spencer's collection at my-wardrobe.com, the young British designer has produced a special one-off piece. Exclusive to my-wardrobe.com and rendered in a subtle Plaid fabric from a mill based in the dolomites of Northern Italy, the Gardener's Jacket is an unstructured garment with a utilitarian feel: with 4 buttons, two large patch pockets, a smaller ticket pocket and a chest pocket with flap, this jacket has all the hallmarks of classic Oliver Spencer styling. Made in London, only 6 of these jackets have been produced <http://www.my-wardrobe.com/oliver-spencer/anthracite-gardeners-jacket-611245> £310
