Where was Beckham's tie from?

Print

Hi there geek, hope you can help, I loved the tie Becks wore on Jonathan Ross the other night, any idea where it's from or where I could get one just like it? Cheers Geek.

The tie was by Paul Smith as was the suit. Only the shoes and shirt were Beckham's own. It's new season and can be found in the Floral Street store, sorry, there wasn't an image.

Paul Smith has a great selection, as always. I know it's nothing like it but I particularly like this leopard print tie at the moment, stylish fun.

Summer hair - Help!

Print

Hey Geek,

I usually use hair wax to style my hair, but in the Summer I've found in the heat and sun it just doesn't last or hold, can you recommend anything that will do the job better?

Cheers, Jim

Hi Jim,

I've recently had the same problem. The heat seems to make the wax disappear. I was recommended this matt paste which has more hold without making you hair hard or too rigid. It works pretty well and also contains a thing called the Enviroshield Complex which shields against UV rays too, which is good for your hair.

Hope this helps,

Sharp suit on a budget?

Print

Hi Geek,

I need a really sharp suit and I want something a bit different and trendy, but not wanting to break the bank. Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike,

On a budget I would go for something simple. Stick to a two button single breasted suit in grey or navy. Marks & Spencer have started to do slim-fitting suits in their Limited Collection and you can get one - pictured - for an amazing £79. Other places to try are Ben Sherman or Lambretta, who do very sharp mod style suits, which have become modern classics, for roughly £200 each and also Topman is really good for affordable yet slick tailoring. Remember though Mike, fit is everything, so try on and look and feel comfortable in it.

Hope this helps,

Bit of Insight - Summer Casual

Print

Alright Geek,

If I was after some decent tracksuit/casual type strides what would your suggestion be? Thinking about teaming  them up with a jacket both Linen or Denim.Had a look at these and liked the, but then thought I know a man who might know of an alternative:

Thanks the Chic Geek!
Dan

Hey Dan,

These babies might be hard to pull off. I would definitely try to try them on first. I think it could end up looking too casual, tracksuit bottoms cross that line!

If you insist I would look at Uniqlo. I would have said American Apparel but I bought a pair of tracksuit bottoms from there recently and they were like leggings, not good. For Summer casual I would say coloured fitted chinos. Believe it or not, Burton have a nice blue pair or even New Look. I wouldn't spend more than £30 as the colour will quickly wash-out.

Decent watch for £200?

Print

Hi Geek,

I'm looking for a new watch, I want something substantial looking yet without the Basel budget. I would like something quite classic, masculine and stylish. I have £200 to spend, any ideas?

Rob

Hi Rob,

Storm has just launched a Storm Black range for men. They have a really nice watch called the Aquanaut, which is water resistant up to 1000m and features a Swiss movement and a sapphire glass face. It really looks the business and comes in silver & black or slate and retails for £199.99.
