Gucci's New Digital Flagship

Print

Gucci was a pioneer when it came to luxury online retail when it launched Gucci.com back in 2002, quickly becoming the brand's busiest 'store'. Following an 18 month architectural renovation under the direction of Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, the new 'Digital Flagship' takes advantage of the most innovative technologies available today thereby seamlessly integrating rich content, shopping and social networking to provide the site's monthly 2.5 million unique visitors with an aesthetic and customer-oriented experience that replicates the one they have when entering a Gucci signature flagship in Rome, New York, London or Shanghai.

Visitors to the new site travel online through the experience of a physical Gucci retail store, where products are displayed against a backdrop of gold, light beige, rosewood and other sophisticated materials, adding a sense of three-dimensional richness to the site set against contextual video and photography narrating the stories behind the products. Dr.Martens Competition

Print

We thought we'd highlight our brand new and amazing competition. This very special, one-of-a-kind, collector's pair of Dr.Martens has been specially decorated with tattoos by Barney Trattles from I- Saw using a Dremel to etch his designs on the leather. Featuring TheChicGeek logo on one side and tattoos and the date on the rest, these are very special indeed. We met him while at the pop-up Dr.Martens store at Vintage at Goodwood and we don't really want to let these babies go. They are a size 8 or 42. They need a good home!

G-Star Raw by Marc Newson

Print

We saw this at the press days and was really impressed. Marc Newson continues his exploration into high-tech garment construction techniques with a luxury-leisure range of casual sweats and jackets, all featuring A-line bodies and minimal seams to offer unmatched cleanliness of line and maximum comfort for the wearer. Marc contrasts these sophisticated constructions with deceptively simple designs, featuring bold colours and block graphics.

The collection comprises three distinct parts: a base of sweats that also includes a worker jacket and jeans in Japanese selvedge Denim and wrinkled poly- Cotton; a vibrant, graphic-intensive selection that includes the Transformer Puffer Jacket with removable and reversible sleeves; and exclusive pieces from Marc's Limited Collection, such as the Cloud Jacket, a fully taped and glued, high-performance Goretex waterproof and a super-soft leather jacket.

Elvis & Kresse

Print

Not something you'd usually expect to find at Harrods, Elvis & Kresse is a label whose products are made from decommissioned fire-hoses, waste parachute Silk and old coffee and tea sacks. All of Elvis & Kresse's raw materials have an incredible history and no two products are the same and fifty per cent of Elvis & Kresse's profits are donated to charities related to the raw materials. We particularly like this fire hose kit bag.
