The Joy of Socks
Spending a few weeks in sandals or boat shoes sans socks makes you fully appreciate a really good sock. Nothing beats slipping your foot into a fresh pair of fine Cotton knit English socks. Socks are to men what lingerie is to women. If you don't have much money and need a little wardrobe refreshment, you can't go wrong with a new pair of colourful socks. My personal favourites are by Richard James, made by the English factory Pantherella. They are Pantherella's great quality yet with James' great spin on the colour ways. They are bright yet always go with everything. I once bought a pair, grey with fuschia pink pin-stripes, I wore those till they feel apart. I also had a pair of mustard and purple Dogtooth Check, I loved those too. It only takes a couple of hot weeks without socks that makes you realise how much you miss them.
