More highlights from the Spring 2011 previews.
Marks & Spencer had this cute laptop case. Lets be honest, how often does your laptop leave the house or office? Usually they are too heavy to carry around and you're too worried about dropping it. So wasting money on an expensive laptop bag or case just isn't worth it, you might as well get a fun and reasonably priced one like this, which when it gets a bit grubby you can easily replace. They are also going to do iPad cases in this design.
Marni had this soft rucksack. A luxurious piece of easy dressing. It doesn't shout luxury which is the whole point. A subtle yet practical piece of quality.
Neil Barrett's collections are always very clean and strict, so it was nice to see him introduce these washed and creased pieces. This eight-button double breasted jacket has the formal pin-stripe yet the small lapel and exaggerated creasing balances out the formality and makes this an easy all day, every day jacket.
Valentino's menswear is really good. Often pushed into that neglected category of 'old man' Italian menswear, there are some really nice pieces. A bit like Ferragamo this is a label you don't often think about looking at, and you should. This jacket was a gorgeous thick linen weave which was transparent, unlined and a perfect Summer jacket.
