I am looking at getting a couple of pair of suede brogue shoes for Summer, most likely a sand/light brown pair and a light blue pair.
Any advice on what would be the best sort of socks to go with them ?

They sound good, suede brogues are a really nice Summer shoe. I suggest going sans socks if they are comfortable enough, especially if you are going to wear shorts.
For socks I would go for thin, fine cotton in bright designs. I always say it, but Richard James do great cotton Summer socks. Because there is less synthetic in them, the colours are much brighter and then it looks like you've deliberately chosen to make the socks a feature. Choose colours or designs with a base of white just keeps it fresher and more Summertime.
