Men's Fashion - Sartorial Crush - Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo
We're sure Jessica Chastain won't mind us ignoring her latest outfit and instead focus on her sartorial arm candy. Boyfriend, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo - you'd have to be Italian with a name like that - has that slouchy, chic Italian playboy thing going on. After a spot of Googling, it appears Gian Luca is an executive for French ski brand Moncler, which obviously explains the flare for style. This is a summer clotheshorse to watch.
Film - The Great Gatsby - TheChicGeek Verdict
TheChicGeek says "While Daisy may have been a bit tearful over Jay's shirts, the film left me weeping about the state of the shirt collars and ties. For a film trying to be so lavish and perfect, the clothes look almost scruffy in places. Collars are creased, neck-tie knots aren't pulled tight enough; it doesn't have the eye for detail that a film which is more style than substance needs.
"Everybody from the neck up was fine, which doesn't really say much for the costume department! There's also the worst pair of linen trousers I've ever seen on screen, not to mention the naff pigeon-grey braces holding them up. They're the type that come in a plastic box from a crappy department store in the just-before-Christmas-evening department next to the pre-tied bow ties and synthetic cumberbands. Nothing feels authentic. While it is supposed to have a fantastical element, it is also based on a real time and place. People would have thrown lavish parties in the Hamptons during that time at houses as big as Calvin Klein's or Ralph Lauren's!
"While faithful to the book, Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't have the athleticism for the role. The swim-suit scene is cut so as not to show his body and those linen trousers, just looked wrong as he doesn't have a body to fill them.
"On the positives - the Tiffany jewellery looked good, straw boaters are the obvious must-have Gatsby accessory, but overall Baz Luhrmann's knack for quick cutting becomes a smoke and mirrors affair for the lack of detail. The CGI houses look like something the Wizbit rocked up to on BBC Children's TV in the 80s, some of the planting looked like and was plastic poundshop flowers, while I spotted a dodgy fake-fur throw in there for good measure.
"There is no feeling for the time, or the place, New York. Carey Mulligan is a really vacuous Daisy, Tobey Maguire is okay, as is Leo, but it could have been so much better. The wardrobe needs an obsessive like Tom Ford; every knot, every wrinkle, every collar, every suit should be perfection and it wasn't. As Jay Gatsby would say 'Nevermind, old sport!'"

TheChicGeek says “Ralph Lauren’s entire billion dollar business has been pretty much based on The Great Gatsby; a timeless masculine look that references the past while looking contemporary. For the film, the majority of the wardrobe was from his Polo line, with the exception of the pink suit, which was specially designed for the film and a 1930’s striped bathing suit.
"I recently went to a cocktail party at the Ralph Lauren Mansion on Bond Street and because his style is so well known and so associated with this look, it's hard not to think of Ralph Lauren being the first person to ever create these 1930's looks, which of course he isn't and wasn't."

TheChicGeek says “It was quite a coup for Brooks Brothers to get the new Great Gatsby film. I'm sure there were plenty of brands queuing up to do the menswear for 
this one. But, Brooks Brothers is a believable collaboration, having being mentioned in Fitzgerald’s books and of course, dressing the real Jay Gatsbys from its store in New York during the inter-war period.

"For the film, the brand created 500 day and evening looks as well as 1700 accessories for the cast and extras, all based on its archives. The looks are good, but they do look too costumey. They need to be ultra-fitted to give them that flawless chic appeal."

TheChicGeek's Hot List Summer 2013 - No.14 - Jigsaw Orange Cotton Hooded Jacket
Firstly, these pictures don't do this jacket justice. Secondly, it deserves a name, 'Cotton Hooded Jacket' makes it sounds like just any other anonymous Summer jacket.
This is a great jacket from Jigsaw Menswear and would look perfect with shorts for any outdoor British Summer event. The orange colour is a really nice 'sunny' and warm orange. The treated waterproof cotton hooded parka features two metal fireman's clips at the neck, two bellows pockets at the waist and a zip fastening with a button placket. And, best of all, it is limited collection to only ten, with a number on the label, so you won't see it everywhere.
