Walking past Asprey's on Bond Street last week I spotted a vintage WWI Band Tunic in the window. As a great piece of vintage men's fashion the tunic was inspiring but realising it was actually worn by John Lennon during the 60s was the icing on the cake. It was advertising the fact that Asprey's currently have an exhibition of Beatles artifacts some of which are for sale.
The Beatles are great examples of not being over styled. They had very strong looks throughout their careers but always wore it in a relaxed and slightly disheveled manner. They just looked like young guys having fun. From the collarless shirts to the regalia of Sgt. Pepper they are the epitome of English shabby chic.
The exhibition runs until Nov. 22nd
