Certain materials or fabrics are associated with certain seasons; linen for Summer, cashmere for Winter for example. There is nothing more luxurious this time of year than spending all day in the sun in shorts and T-shirts, having a shower and then getting into clean, fresh clothes. The feeling of slipping on a pair of jeans over your sun-baked skin feels so good and because Summer evenings in Britain can be chilly, nothing beats a thick cashmere jumper. Watching the sun set while feeling the thick ply of finest cashmere must be one of life's greatest indulgences. I always leave a couple of cashmere jumpers out of my Winter wardrobe for this very reason. I have a hand-knitted aran cashmere roll-neck from Ralph Lauren, it's so big you can use it like a wrap. I personally would go for darker colours and never bother wash it, just use as a sloppy joe and lounge around in it on the beach watching the waves roll in as the Sun goes down or great at a late-night BBQ. You'll want to hug yourself!
Uniqlo is always pretty good for reasonably priced cashmere, reduced at the moment - £39.99
