Patterned Swim Shorts - Hibiscus Free-Zone!

The swimwear mantra this summer is 'under promise and over deliver'. This means a nice, non-threatening, non-sexual, in proportion short. None of this skimpy, laced up, bulge-enhancing, budgie-smuggling business. The idea is modesty not just in dress but also in attitude. Take Will Chalker here in the lookbook for Marks & Spencer, he is almost playing down his attractiveness. You want a pair of shorts that requires a double take, not a look-at-me strutting round the pool arrogrance. The patterns this season are either fun - monsters, toucans etc. or strong paisley, but definitely no hibiscus or shorts below the knee. Go fish.
