There are menswear designers and brands such as Burberry Prorsum, Dries Van Noten and Prada who are consistently good. Earning this privileged position through a track record of season upon season of quality and original clothes and looks, we trust them for new ideas. Our expectations from these designers are high; expecting new direction yet all wearable and completely of the moment. They don't usually disappoint and Spring 2012 is a great season with killer collections from Givenchy, Burberry Prorsum and this one from Prada, which is a classic.
This is the kind of collection that you'll see under glass case in a fashion museum in a decade's time under the label 'Prada S/S 2012'. This is modern vintage; so recognisable yet also insane at the same time. It's what Elvis would have worn if he'd had taste. Rhinestones, flower power trousers and shirts printed with surfers and sharks make this a retro confection with a feeling of the Nevada Rat Pack.
What we love about Prada is that it is one of the few brands who can sell this type of collection at a premium price. The Prada customer has the style and irony to get these collections and also the items are beautiful in their own right. Prada is a clever company, completely leading at the front, they limit the amount of 'doors' - stockists - creating an exclusive and limited feeling. Miuccia Prada can appeal to the fickle fashion crowd while at the same time selling billions of dollars worth of product without flooding

the market.
This golfing Americana style does seem a little bit 'different' at first but give it a few weeks and we promise you'll get it.
