Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013 Guernsey JumperAnd there was you thinking Guernsey was a Channel Island close to France, well it is, but it's also a style of jumper. Christopher Bailey's stellar Spring/Summer 2013 show for Burberry Prorsum had us feeling the need to rediscover the Guernsey.

This traditional form of knitwear was worn by sailors and fisherman to keep them warm out at sea. During the time of the Napoleonic Wars, Admiral Lord Nelson recommended that the Guernsey be worn by the Royal Navy and it was at this time that the Guernsey, which until then had been knitted in the unscoured natural wool, was dyed Navy Blue.

The simply boat necked shape and design makes this a easy, throw-on piece of knitwear in any season. We just want this one now!
