Fashion is having something of a Victoriana/Sherlock Holmes moment. Guy Ritchie's latest film 'Sherlock Holmes' comes out on Boxing Day in which Jude Law seems to carry off his Movember tache with aplomb and Alexander McQueen's entire men's AW 09 collection was an ode to The Gangs of New York and Queensbury Rules. One of the classic pieces of Victorian men's wear is the Ulster, a coat with a cape over the shoulders. Sherlock Holmes is always pictured wearing one and this neat version from Moschino is such a great contemporary take on a Victorian classic.

This is one of my favourite coats of the season, classically double-breasted. The cape, epaulettes and the black leather gloves add a stylish sophistication. It also looks fantastic from the back.
