With painting back in fashion in the art world it was inevitable that we'd get it all over our clothes and accessories. This bold brush with art is seeing colourful strokes all over the catwalk at Christopher Kane and now on a special range of tote bags at American brand Coach.
Coach X James Nares brings five of his brushstroke on to a series of bags. Made from double-layered Italian canvas, the bags are held together by a single heavy-duty seam so as not to interrupt the artwork. The shoulder straps and handles are made of vachetta leather, while the base of each bag is vegetable-tanned leather.
“James is an art world icon, so we wanted to create something very special,” says Jason Weisenfeld, Senior Vice President of Global Brand Communications and Collaborations. “When one of these bags is carried past you, you have the impression of a painting set in motion. They really
are works of art.”
Only 175 of each colour (black, blue, green, pink and orange) have been produced internationally. Each bag is numbered and features a Coach leather storypatch with James’ signature.
