Gaberdine - Gab-bar-dean - A closely woven twill fabric made from cotton or wool. The fabric is smooth on one side and has a diagonally ribbed surface on the other. Gaberdine, the breathable, weatherproof and tearproof fabric was developed by Thomas Burberry and was first introduced in 1880 and patented in 1888.
